Is the venue handicap accessible?
If an expected guest has a handicap or your fiancé’s Nonna has a hard time with stairs, ask about accessibility. Are there elevators or ramps for your guests to comfortably arrive inside the wedding venue? You’ll want to ensure all of your guests are carefully accounted for.
What is the venue’s capacity?
Whether you’re planning a wedding small or large, it’s important to know a venue’s capacity. How many guests can be comfortably seated in a ballroom or banquet room without maxing out the fire marshal’s rule?
What is the policy for rain or inclement weather?
If you plan to say, “I do,” outdoors, what are the venues’ policies for last-minute changes? Are there indoor accommodations for you and your guests? The last thing you want on your big day is getting stuck in the rain because you didn’t think to ask ahead of time! If you’re dead-set on an outdoor ceremony, we suggest finding a wedding venue that accommodates last-minute changes.
Are there décor restrictions?
Some wedding venues ban rice or confetti to be thrown as the happy couple make their grand exit. Some venues ban centerpieces with lit candles for the sake of fire hazard. Whatever you have in mind for your big day, be sure to check with a wedding venue about any restrictions before you put time and money into décor or favors.
Are there other events coinciding with your date?
This may not be as important for some planning weddings, but you may want to check with the wedding venue about possible events that may be coinciding with your wedding date.
